Meet Your Instructors

Dr. Matt Silva will teach the Counseling & Discipleship Training (CDT) “in person” classes at CrossPointe Community Church (CPCC). Matt has served as the Elder for Biblical Counseling & Discipleship at CPCC since 2020. Pastor Matt’s education and training include a Master of Divinity from Trinity Theological Seminary and a Doctor of Ministry (with an emphasis in Biblical Counseling) from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary.

Matt is an experienced counselor with a level 2 certification with the Association of Certified Biblical Counselors since 2014. Matt developed the Bachelor & Master of Arts in Biblical Counseling programs at Shasta Bible College & Graduate School in 2016.

Dr. Silva presently serves as an adjunct professor in Biblical Counseling for Central Baptist Theological Seminary in Plymouth, Minnesota
(centralseminary.edu) and has had opportunities to train pastors overseas in Brazil. He works closely with Dr. Nicolas Ellen, teaching Zoom Live classes for the Expository Counseling Training Center (https://mycounselingcorner.com).

Dr. Nicholas Ellen will serve as a guest professor quarterly for the Counseling & Discipleship Training at CPCC via Zoom Live classes.

Dr. Ellen is the Senior Pastor of Community of Faith Bible Church in Houston, Texas. He serves as Senior professor of Biblical Counseling at the College of Biblical Studies. Dr. Ellen has also developed a biblical counseling training center called the Expository Counseling Training Center, LLC.

He received his B. A. in Business Administration from the University of Houston, Houston, Texas, a M. A. in Christian Education from Dallas Theological Seminary, Dallas, Texas, a M. A. in Biblical Counseling from The Master’s University, Santa Clarita, California, a Doctorate of Ministry (D. Min.) with a concentration in Biblical Counseling from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, Louisville, Kentucky, and a Ph. D. in Biblical Counseling from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, Fort Worth, Texas.

Dr. Ellen is a Fellow and certified Biblical Counselor with the Association of Certified Biblical Counselors (ACBC). He travels nationwide on behalf of ACBC teaching beginning and advanced principles and application of Biblical Counseling. Dr. Ellen is a Senior member of the Biblical Framework Counselors Association.
